20 Ways to Beat the Blues and Be Happy

20 Ways To Beat The Blues and Be Happy

DO THESE THINGS:

Practice expressing and feeling gratitude for all the blessings in your life large and small – even the tiny ones.  This is the greatest spiritual practice

Fake It Until You Make It:  Even if you’re not feeling your best, make a conscious effort to show your best face to others – especially those you are getting to know.  They all have their own problems and don’t want to hear yours.  They like to be around people who help them feel good.

Embrace the Law of Circulation – All the kindness, smiles, acceptance, love and generosity you put out comes right back to you!  Keep investing into the system!

Each person or animal that you encounter each day is giving you an opportunity to practice the Law of Circulation – not because you will get something but just because it is what your heart loves to do.  Practice as often as you can!

If you are concerned about people rejecting or not accepting you practice accepting others unconditionally.  Always give others what you want to receive yourself – works way better than trying to “get” something.

Be bold and do new things you want to do, but have been putting off – especially those that make you use your creativity and talents

Join a spiritual or meditation group and be committed to it.  If it stops working for you then ask Spirit to lead you to one that does and commit to that.  Chanting and meditation are some of the fastest PROVEN ways to transform negativity into peace and clarity.

Imagine yourself at peace, having more fun and being someone that others love to be around.  It is who you really are, just takes some letting go to be there.

Grow plants and get your fingers into soil as much as possible.  If you can create a garden or volunteer at an organic garden you will be healed.

Take appropriate food supplements that balance your brain chemistry and stop eating sugar.  You’d be amazed how much better this can make you feel.

Exercise and walk as much as possible – there is nothing better.  Breathe deeply as you walk.  Expand your physical fitness as much as possible – even if you are in a wheelchair!

Drink more water.

Teach or facilitate groups or classes on what you are great at –  Or join a group and fully participate.

Enjoy your family as much as you can.  Sure it’s not perfect, but these are some of your closest connections.

Whenever something seemingly bad happens, tell yourself that this was the Grace of God saving you from a much worse thing.   And give thanks.

DON’T DO THESE THINGS:

Don’t complain (to others or to yourself).  This is the #1 way to drain your psychic energy and bring yourself down.  But talk to God frequently and pour your heart out about your situation.  That is the right way to express yourself.

Don’t eat much sugar or drink much alcohol.  These are depressants.  An occasional glass of wine with good friends is fine.  Don’t ever drink by yourself.

Don’t worry.  God is taking care of all things.  You are extremely blessed and only have minor aggravations to deal with.  Let it be and invest your energy positively.

Feel overwhelmed or unclear? Read this!

Friday, October 16th, 2009

This post is written for you if this headline got your attention:  Feel overwhelmed or unclear?  Read this!  In the midst of all the swirling thoughts of uncertainty and overwhelm, questions that seem to go unanswered, fear of where all this is going or an overpowering desire to stop on the brakes – stop and take a deep breath.  No matter how powerful the winds are of a hurricane – there is a still, quiet place inside it called the eye.  I’m writing to remind you that the eye NEVER leaves you.  It is a standard feature of you.

So the main question then would then be HOW do we actually enjoy the eye, the place of stillness and peace?  Don’t worry, I’m not going to quote you scripture or give a long metaphysical dissertation here.   I’ll keep it real simple.

There’s someone trying to talk to you and may be having a hard time getting through.  Not your mother, not your boss, not even your mind.  It’s your soul.   Odds are that your soul is very clear and it could be quite uplifting and comforting were you to actually listen to what it is telling you.  Your soul mainly wants one thing – to evolve and grow and gain wisdom and knowledge and experience.  If we live our lives so that we stay open to new experiences, are willing to move out of our comfort zones and take risks to follow what inspires us the soul is happy.  It has great ways to reward you when it is happy.  Such as, making YOU happy.  It does this by opening doors that have been closed, making surprisingly good connections with others, healing your sundry ailments and simply feeling good.

A good barometer of how much you may be listening to your soul -  is how you feel.  If you are feeling good, inspired, excited or in love – congratulations, you’re “Beating the System” and really living.  If you’re feeling overwhelmed, scared, depressed, immobilized or plain bewildered it’s a real good time to live more.  Learn something new that you’ve always wanted to learn.  Reach out to someone even worse off than you (yes, they are there!).

We’ve all heard about spiritual tests.  Let me make it very simple – Your soul is frequently trying to talk to you.  When you take the time and love to listen, and then take action on what it is telling you (even if it seems strange, scary or out of your comfort zone), the soul is pleased and it will speak to you more.  It will also bless you with more light and clarity.  On the other hand when we keep speeding on and don’t listen to our souls, or listen to it and then not take action to follow its voice, it will probably speak to you less and it will be easier to feel down, overwhelmed, etc.

At this time of so much change and external uncertainty it is a really good thing to listen more to that inner voice, and find our courage to follow it.

What does this mean to you?
