I recently ordered insurance superbills for my own practice, and researched the correct CPT codes for billing both acupuncture and electrical stimulation, as well as physical medicine codes which can be billed by acupuncturists in many states for use of electrical stimulation and rehabilitative exercises. Many practitioners using the Acutron, including acupuncturists, have been reimbursed for these physical medicine codes for electrical stim and rehab. You just need to keep good SOAP notes and be able to justify the reason for your billing and to show progress. You can view or download the pdf at this link.
The rehabilitation codes on this document are not for electrical stimulation. Because simultaneous exercise and microcurrent is so beneficial you can choose to charge for the rehab exercises and add the microcurrent as an adjunct, or vice versa.
Do you do acupuncture billing? Please weight in with what your experiences are.
