Let There Be Light

by Darren Starwynn | East-West Seminars on May 3, 2012

There has been a huge amount of recent research into the healing effects of light on our bodies. What once seemed like the practice of fringe healers is now firmly moving into mainstream medicine. Advocates claim that therapeutic light has the following beneficial effects:

  • · Used for eliminating some forms of cancer
    • · Anti-aging and facial lifting effects
    • · Improves mood and reduces depression
    • · Improves learning in children and reduces attention-deficit and hyperactivity disorders
    • · Improves energy levels
    • · Help with bone marrow transplants
    • · Strengthens the immune system
    • · Treatment for macular degeneration and other eye diseases
    • · Accelerates wound healing
    • · Boosts the effectiveness of acupuncture

Scientists have measured light being emitted from our DNA, while a Russian study has demonstrated that light is circulated in the body through meridian pathways, and can be detected with a photomultiplier device. Other studies have shown the powerful psychologic effects of color, and as a result many new hospitals, prisons and psychiatric facilities consult with color consultants when planning their designs.

Light therapy is a major aspect of the exploding field of vibrational energy medicine. The use of color light can boost the effectiveness of most medical and healing arts, and is a vital part of the most effective facial and whole body rejuvenation systems.

Light therapy works so powerfully because of the principle of energetic resonance. Our bodies have evolved under sunlight and we are highly sensitive to the various wavelengths of light in our natural environment. When appropriate colors of light are applied in a targeted way to acupuncture points and regions of the body very powerful healing effects can occur. These effects are much stronger when light is applied with simultaneous microcurrent as a carrier.

You can learn how to integrate color light therapy with microcurrent and exercise for three top income-producing clinical services at the upcoming Microcurrent Electro-Acupuncture & Vibrational Medicine Symposium. The Symposium will take place in Seattle, WA on May 18 – 20.

At this one event you will learn the most practical and effective techniques for Energy Light Rejuvenation, Pain Mastery Sequence Therapy and the Ideal Weight Program. Best of all you will probably find that you love working with color light & vibrational medicine and will get re-inspired about what you do. It all works together, you know.

more about TCM vs technology

by Darren Starwynn | East-West Seminars on April 29, 2012

(from continuing discussion on Linked In)

I agree with Charles’ observations. It is useful to exhaust all the posible solution present before trying a new one, as in e-stim.

Also, many students I find use several models to diagnose; this leads to confusion. For instance, Shang Han Lun 6 levels is an herbal diagnosis as is Wen Bing (as is Zang Fu; but let’s leave that for another day). A diagnosis that includes: Liver Qi Stagnation, Heat in the Blood,+,+ is not a diagnosis at all. A diagnosis is to point one to treatment principles which lead to point selection and formula selection. Relying on a machine to do so will not increase diagnostic ability. Practice diagnosing will.

People love devices, graphs and print-outs. Do all the print-outs mean anything? Some do, some don’t. No one can argue that these tools are useful in building a practice. Patients feel more value if they have something in their hands.

However, as Charles recommends, do all the hard work fist; don’t take short-cuts.

Darren Starwynn‘s response:  • There is great deal of truth in the comments of Mitchell and Charles about not skimping on learning the true art of Chinese Medicine. I believe that the aims of solidifying core TCM skills and using technology that can provide added results and help new practitioners be financially successful do not have to be mutually exclusive. There is a sad statistic that over 60% of new TCM school graduates are out of business within 5 years, or are practicing it as a sideline and needing to keep their “day job”.  Microlight technologies have helped many acupuncturists to thrive financially and be competitive in the holistic healing arts marketplace.

I do agree that over-reliance on “machines” can be a distraction when viewed as a substitute for core diagnostic and treatment skills. Staying only with ancient methods can be a limitation. Many of the methods we now call “traditional” at one time in the old dynasties was considered revolutionary and “un-traditional”. Courageous practitioners had to go against the grain and introduce them anyway. Vibrational energy medicine is a major trend for the future of our medical system, and our profession should learn about and embrace it now to stay on the forefront.

Should you give immune boosting herbs for auto-immune diseases?

February 21, 2012

This is a common question that herbalists and acupuncturists encounter.  In a recent article by Kerry Bone, he gives convincing evidence that it often is appropriate and useful to give immune boosting herbs in these cases.  Auto immune disease includes Hashimoto’s thyroid disease, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s, lupus and ulcerative colitis.  Many authorities believe [...]
